Solar power is the conversion of sun light into electricity using solar photovoltaic cells, this method of power generation is called solar thermal power generation.

This conversion takes place in the solar cell by photovoltaic effect.

Working

Solar energy is used simply as a source of heat. This heat is further used to produce the steam, which drives the steam turbine. This method of power generation is called solar thermal power generation.

Solar energy is directly converted into electricity using PV (photovoltaic ) (or solar) cells as mentioned above. The PV cell is made with silicon semiconductor material.
