HYDRO POWER PLANTS
Hydro power plants convert potential energy into mechanical energy through water turbines,
which then generate electricity.
Dams are used to store river water in a
reservoir.
Water
released from the reservoir flows down hill through a turbine, spinning it,
which in turn activates a generator to produce electricity.
Water
stored in reservoirs provides flexibility to generate electricity on demand and
reduces dependence on the variability of inflow.
ADVANTAGES OF HYDRO POWER PLANT
Hydro power plant is fueled by water.
Hydro power is a sustainable fuel source, hydro power plants provides no.of benefits, such as flood control, irrigation, and water supply.
Hydro power plant won't pollute the air like power plants that burn fossil fuels, such as coal or natural gas.
